How to Use Flex Time and Flex Pitch in Logic Pro

This guide explains how to manipulate the timing and pitch of recorded audio. You can use these tools to tighten a drum performance or fix a singer's flat note.
Follow these steps
Enable Flex View
Click the Flex icon (looks like a DNA strand) in the main menu bar. Small symbols will appear on every track header.
Select the Correct Mode
Click the Flex button on your specific track and choose 'Slicing' for drums, 'Rhythmic' for guitars, or 'Flex Pitch' for vocals.
Edit Time or Pitch
In Flex Time, click and drag the waveform to align it with the grid. In Flex Pitch, double-click the audio to see 'notes' you can move vertically.
Fine-Tune the Result Surface
If a note sounds unnatural, use the fine-tuning handles on the pitch box to adjust vibrato or drift.
Common mistakes
- Using 'Monotonic' mode for polyphonic sounds like guitars, which causes audio glitches.
- Over-stretching audio beyond its limits, resulting in 'metallic' sounding artifacts.
