How to Use Buses, Sends, and Aux Channels in Logic Pro

This guide explains how to route multiple tracks to a single destination for group processing or shared effects. Understanding this workflow saves CPU power and helps you create a cohesive mix.
Follow these steps
Route outputs to a Bus
Select the tracks you want to group in the Mixer. Click the 'Output' slot and choose an unused Bus, such as Bus 1.
Identify the Aux channel
Logic automatically creates a new Aux channel in your mixer. Label this channel clearly, like 'Drum Group' or 'All Guitars'.
Use Sends for parallel effects
To share an effect like reverb, click a 'Send' slot on your track and choose a Bus. Turn the Send knob to control how much sound goes to the effect.
Apply processing to the Aux
Add your desired effects (like Reverb or EQ) directly onto the Aux channel. This applies the processing to every track feeding into that Bus.
Common mistakes
- Sending a signal to a Bus but forgetting to turn up the Send knob in the mixer.
- Confusing a 'Bus' (the path) with an 'Aux' (the destination channel).
