How to Use Apple Loops in Logic Pro
Instantly add professional drums, melodies, and textures to your song. Browse, preview, and drag Apple Loops directly into your project.
This tutorial demonstrates how to use the built-in library of royalty-free Apple Loops. These pre-recorded phrases automatically sync to your project's tempo and key, allowing for rapid song construction.
Follow these steps
Open the Loop Browser
Press 'O' or click the loop icon (a small circle) in the top right corner to open the Loop Browser. You can search by instrument or genre.
Preview and Search Loops
Click a loop name to hear a preview. The preview will play at your current project tempo so you can hear how it fits.
Drag into the Timeline
Drag the loop into the Tracks Area. Blue loops are Audio (recordings), and Green loops are MIDI (editable notes).
Loop the Region
Hover over the top right edge of the region and drag to the right to repeat the loop as many times as needed.
Common mistakes
- Dragging a loop into a track type that doesn't support it (e.g., MIDI to Audio).
- Forgetting that loops will stretch to match your project tempo automatically.
