How to Record Multiple Inputs at Once in Logic Pro

This guide teaches you how to record several different sound sources at the same time into separate tracks. This is essential for recording live bands, podcasts with multiple guests, or drum kits.
Follow these steps
Create and Assign Tracks
Create multiple new Audio Tracks. In the setup window, check the box for 'Ascending' to automatically assign Input 1 to Track 1, Input 2 to Track 2, and so on.
Verify Individual Inputs
Open the Inspector ('I' key) and verify the 'Input' slot for each track matches the physical input on your interface.
Arm Multiple Tracks
Hold the Shift key and click the 'R' button on every track header you wish to record. They should all blink red.
Initiate Multi-Track Recording
Press 'R' on your keyboard. Logic will now capture separate audio files for every armed track simultaneously.
Common mistakes
- Setting all tracks to 'Input 1', resulting in the same microphone recording onto every track.
- Forgetting to 'Shift-Click' the Record buttons to arm multiple tracks simultaneously.
