How to Quantize MIDI Naturally in Logic Pro

Follow these steps
Select Your MIDI Notes
Double-click your MIDI region to open the Piano Roll and select the notes you want to fix by dragging a box over them.
Choose a Grid Value
In the Region Inspector on the left, find the Quantize menu. Start with a standard value like 1/16 Note for most modern songs.
Adjust Quantize Strength
Instead of just hitting 'Q', click the 'Quantize' sub-menu and look for 'Strength'. Lower this from 100% to about 60-70%.
Apply and Listen
This moves the notes toward the grid without forcing them to be perfect. This keeps the natural 'rushing' or 'dragging' of your original playing.
Common mistakes
- Quantizing to 100% Strength, which often removes the 'soul' or 'swing' of a performance.
- Selecting the wrong 'Quantize Value' (e.g., 1/8 instead of 1/16), which moves notes to the wrong beats.
