How to Fix MIDI Timing Problems in Logic Pro

This guide helps you align your MIDI notes perfectly with the project grid and reduce input latency. You will learn how to correct timing errors both during and after recording.
Follow these steps
Apply Basic Quantize
Select your recorded MIDI region and press 'Q' on your keyboard. This applies the default quantization, snapping the start of every note to the nearest grid division.
Check Region Delay
Open the Inspector (press I) and look at the 'Region' parameters. Ensure the 'Delay' setting is at 0ms, as even small values can make MIDI sound out of time.
Enable Low Latency Mode
Go to Settings > Audio and turn on 'Low Latency Mode' while recording. This bypasses intensive plugins that cause a delay between pressing a key and hearing the sound.
Use MIDI Transform
If notes are consistently early or late, use the 'MIDI Transform' tool to shift all events by a specific number of ticks to align with the beat.
Common mistakes
- Having 'Input Quantize' turned on by accident, which shifts notes as you record them.
